Studies have shown that better vision leads to better action. When we can clearly see the good in the world, our quality of life improves and we are more likely to act in ways that benefit those around us. In other words—when we see what’s good, we do what’s good. Our experienced optometrist, Shaune Wallace, provides eye exams and vision tests to protect your eyes and enable you to see the world with clarity so that you can bring an abundance of goodness to those around you.

  • General Manager

Sean moved to Elko with his family in 1989. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and spent five years maintaining H.A.W.K. missile launchers and radars, receiving his honorable discharge in 1998.

While attending college in South Carolina, Sean began his optical career working in a production laboratory. During the next few years, Sean's experience grew as he took new positions in retail and management. In 2004, Sean decided to bring the excellence and convenience of contemporary eye care to his small home town. He launched Speedy Specs in 2004, and has been active with the company ever since.

Sean is a Nevada-licensed Optician. His variety of career experience couples with his dedication to excellent patient service, and helps Focus Eye Care and Optical Lab provide our customers with their vision.

In his free time, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons. He particularly enjoys history, hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting.

  • Lab Manager

Tom was raised in Elko and is currently raising a family of his own. He graduated from Spring Creek High School in 2006 and started working in the lab at Speedy Specs in April 2007. He’s been here ever since.

Growing up, he enjoyed creating with his hands and understanding how things work. What drew him to optics was learning about the machinery used to manufacture glasses, the engineering involved, and watching a patient's eyes light up when they could see again. He wanted to learn and know more, so he began attending college in the fall of 2007 at CSN (College of Southern Nevada). He received an Associate's of Applied Science degree in Ophthalmic Technology in 2010. He passed his ABO and NCLE certifications on the same day in 2009. In the fall of 2011, he passed his Opticians License Exam with the highest score out of his testing class. In 2011, he helped to successfully move the lab and practice to our current location on Mountain City Highway. In 2018, we threw out the old, conventional way of making glasses and upgraded to free form digital lens processing. Tom has not looked back and continually looks for ways to bring the best optical technology to Elko.

Tom is married with two children. He enjoys a good book, movie, or video game, and going for neighborhood walks and bike rides with his family. His family loves a good road trip and exploring the local area or surrounding areas. They are big foodies and enjoy a good restaurant they have not tried before. When the weather is warm, they like to challenge themselves with a hiking trail. They are active members at their local church.

  • Billing Specialist

Originally from Bishop, CA, Allison came to Elko 5 years ago after she graduated to be with her husband. She worked with Speedy Specs for four years as an optician, and during that time obtained her CPO certification. She does the billing for Focus so she can be closer to her family and raise her son.

When she’s not working, Allison enjoys reading and leather work.

  • Optometric Assistant

Mayela was born in Mexico but raised in Elko for most of her life.

She has been part of Focus Eye Care for two years, and has been able to gain experience in all departments: from front end receptionist, to medical testing, to the lab. She is getting hands-on training and soon will obtain her dispensing license.

Mayela is a mom of four crazy boys, and keeps busy with sports and activities—anything outdoors!

  • Optical Tech

Logan grew up in Bullhead City, Arizona, but moved to Spring Creek when his father landed permanent employment at one of the local mines. His first winter here was the first time he ever had to deal with snow!

He started working for Focus Eye Care and Optical Lab because his friend and former Focus employee, Trevor, talked to him about the job and he found it quite intriguing. After being hired, the job was more than intriguing—it was fun and exciting. He thoroughly enjoys the production of prescription lenses, and fixing the machines that make them.

Outside of work, Logan likes to play video games with his friends online. He’ll occasionally get together with the whole family, and play with his eight nieces and nephews. He also enjoys watching movies.

  • Optical Tech

Quin (short for Joaquin) was born and raised in Elko. Working at Focus has been a great adventure! Learning about the process of making lenses has been a humbling and gratifying experience. Knowing he can help people out with seeing is an amazing feeling that he doesn’t take for granted.

Quin loves to spend time with his family. He has one cat, and loves reading.

  • Optometric Assistant

Jessica was born and raised in Elko and graduated from Elko High School in 2016. It has never even crossed her mind to move because Elko has always been her home and place of comfort.

Jessica has always been interested in the medical field, so working for Focus Eye Care has been a dream come true. Her goal is to help others with the knowledge and skills she has obtained here at Focus.

For fun, Jessica loves to eat sushi and Mexican food at local restaurants, spend time with her family, go to the park, and watch movies (horror and comedy are her favorites). She has two little girls that she hopes to continually inspire. Since Focus Eye Care is centered around family, she is able to do her job and still be present in her daughters’ lives.

  • Optometric Assistant

Alicia moved to Elko about a year ago with her two beautiful daughters.

She has been in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years, with six of those in the optical field. While she was living in Ely, she had the opportunity to work for an optometrist. Alicia fell in love with helping people find glasses that make them feel wonderful about themselves. She might take a little longer with patients, but they appreciate the effort she puts into stylizing them.

Alicia loves all the outdoor things to do and the extra opportunities for her daughters to participate in sports. She enjoys volleyball, basketball, hiking and 4-wheeling.
